Meet Tucker – the cutest, cuddliest boy you’ll ever meet!
Tucker hugs you like a human and genuinely loves nothing more than kisses, cuddles, and being close to his people. He’s incredibly sweet-natured and gentle, with a playful side that comes out when he has a good run around.
Tucker had a rough start in life. Before coming here he had never lived in a proper home. He was dumped as a puppy, went to a shelter, then a home, then to us. Despite this, he is one of the kindest and most affectionate dogs you’ll ever meet. He does little head bobs and soft paw taps when he’s asking for love, and he enjoys exploring new places and playing.
Tucker was surrendered to us after he air-snapped at a man he didnt know who tried to corner him to grab him to put a lead on. In our training centre, we quickly discovered the real issue — he had an extreme fear of the lead. It’s very likely he was tied up or hit with one in the past, and in that moment he felt cornered and panicked. He didn’t make contact or attempt to bite; it was a warning from a terrified young dog with no escape. We have tested him extremely thoroughly with a multitude of trainers and scenarios.
Since arriving, we’ve desensitised him to leads to show him they are good not a weapon, and now he loves his walks. We have never seen a single sign of aggression from him regardless of his training sessions and tetsing — in fact, he is the staff’s unofficial therapy dog because he loves giving cuddles so much! He’s been around our own children and absolutely adores them.
With other dogs he is very neutral — he happily walks in our group walks and is neutral and polite. If a dog jumps all over him will give a little grumble. He could live with a calm, neutral dog or as the only dog in the home.
He has already started his recall training and his confidence has transformed since the day he arrived. If we had the space, he’d be adopted by us already — he brings a smile to everyone’s face every single day.
Tucker deserves his first real home, full of love, warmth, and gentle guidance. Whoever adopts him is getting a truly special dog.
